Higher Certifications

Once you have graduated from the Idaho P.O.S.T. academy and have earned your Basic or Level I certificate, don’t stop there !There are higher levels of certification which can be earned. These higher levels of certification can mean pay increases or even may be a minimum pre-requisite for a promotion or other desirable position in the Sheriff's Office.

With a little more training and years of service or if you have a college degree, take what you have earned and make it work for you ! Apply for your your next level certificate.

It’s easy and you have probably ALREADY earned it!

  1. To find out your current POST training hours, contact Corporal Jarrett, Deputy Heim or Deputy Guzman via e-mail. We can get that for you, usually same day.
  2. Take a look below to see the criteria for the next level certificate to see if you can apply.
  3. Complete and submit an Application for Certification with any transcripts of college if needed. (The paperwork is minimal & painless.)
  4. Remember to have the Sheriff or the Chief sign the Application for Certification.
  5. Turn it in to the training section so we can mail it off to:
        Idaho POST Academy
        Attn: Rhonda Brasher
        700 S Stratford Dr, Meridian ID, 83642
  6. If you want to mail it yourself, please do us the courtesy of sending a photocopy so we can followup with POST to make sure you get your certificate.
